Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences launched a new site with Papercut Interactive at its Open House last night. As a Paideia school dedicated to creating life-long learners, CSAS staff are committed to imparting to students the concepts of respect, responsibility, and being a role model.
The website gives students and parents tools to take responsibility for staying current on school events and news. Daily announcements, weekly parents’ notes, and a school calendar (that can sync with smartphones) are all available at mycsas.com. Faculty will also begin communicating key classroom information online.
MyCSAS.com is powered by Simon™, Papercut’s powerful, intuitive content management system. Simon gives faculty and staff the power to update the site with ease.
“School resources were a key consideration during site development,” says Jenny Hill, Client Relationships Director at Papercut Interactive. “CSAS is a public magnet school, and they have minimal time to work on their website. Papercut analyzed who will update the site and how to make putting content online an almost seamless part of individuals’ workflow.”
Photography was another concern for CSAS. The challenge: keeping fresh faces online, while not being able to guarantee the quality of photography.
“The CSAS site design allows staff to upload photos and updates to a ‘Spotlight’ section that displays on the homepage,” says Jenny. “The photos are postage-stamp size, so they keep the site looking tidy and professional – regardless of the quality of the image.”
