TopCon 2016

This is friendly What we're up to

On November 19th, TopCon returns to Chattanooga’s Track 29. TopCon, an independently organized design conference, is an opportunity for Chattanooga creatives to gather and share in their art.

For designers, creating often means wrestling with ideas at your desk. TopCon is a time for creative thinkers to get together, discuss, and inspire one another. Co-founder Nick Turner sees TopCon as an investment in Chattanooga’s creative community. It’s a place to discuss design’s impact on our growing city.

So, what’s on the agenda for TopCon this year? We’ve got a rundown for you!

The Speakers

TopCon’s 2016 lineup includes six speakers from various creative backgrounds. Here’s who you can expect to see:

Celine Aubry is a Nashville resident and the manager of Hatch Show Print, one of America’s oldest surviving letterpress show poster and design shops. Aubry and Hatch work to preserve the original art of letterpress printing. Customers of Hatch Show Print range from Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen to Mumford and Sons.

Aaron Draplin is returning to TopCon this year. The owner of Draplin Design Company in Bend, Oregon, he has more than 20 years of design experience and is known for his midwest hybrid style.

Josh Wool is a New York photographer whose work in fashion photography earned him recognition as one of the New York Times’ top five new fashion photographers.

Ayana Campbell specializes in UI design and illustration in Orlando, Florida and serves as an executive board member for AIGA Orlando.

Alonzo Felix is the design director for the startup Gigster in San Francisco, California. He has a background in web design, illustration and typeface and has designed for Crate & Barrel, Kickstarter, and The Washington Post.

Jason Craig is a senior graphic designer, artist, and illustrator living in Augusta, Georgia. Craig’s work has been featured in PRINT magazine and has won him an AIGA InShow award.

Carl Cadwell is a musician from right here in Chattanooga. He helped found Skypunch Studios and has produced music for Samsung, Organic Valley, and Office Depot.

See You At TopCon

We’re pretty excited about this year’s event. Some of us will be there, and we hope you’ll join too. If you see us, come say hello!
