Celebrating by Giving Back

Merry Christmas! It’s hard to believe that the holiday is almost here. In keeping with tradition here at Papercut, we’re celebrating the season by giving back to the community. This year, we’re giving to one of our favorite nonprofits that helps Chattanoogans in need, Metropolitan Ministries.

What Is Metropolitan Ministries?

Metropolitan Ministries helps prevent homelessness in the Chattanooga area by offering assistance to individuals living on the brink of losing their homes. Many of the people MetMin serves are only a single rent or utility payment away from becoming homeless. Through partnerships with area utility companies and landlords, Metropolitan Ministries helps area residents pay their bills and even assists with food and prescription medications, making sure that individuals at risk of becoming homeless remain self sufficient.

Each Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, clients line up outside of Met Min’s building on McCallie Avenue hoping to get one of the day’s 30 available slots for assistance.

How You Can Help

There are several ways you can help support the mission of Metropolitan Ministries:

Make a Friend

Follow MetMin on Facebook! Every week they share client stories that give real insight into the struggles of the financailly poor in our community.

Projects

Groups can support MetMin by participating in a variety of projects, including snack drives, light remodeling, and transporting recyclables to Orange Grove Recycling Center.

Monetary Donations

Metropolitan Ministries welcomes one-time and monthly monetary donations to its 31 Matters campaign, which aims to raise enough money to help the 31st person in line for assistance each day, the first person MetMin must turn away.

Wishing You a Merry Christmas

All of us at Papercut send you warm wishes for a wonderful holiday season. We will be on our holiday break starting on Christmas Day, but we’ll be back to making the Web beautiful on January 2. Merry Christmas, and we’ll see you in 2015!
