Papercut Cuts: Jamie Ann’s Mix Tape

Growing up in Alabama, you’d think that I’d be a big country music fan.  That is definitely not the case.  As I’ve grown up, I have found myself surrounded by many different musical influences.

I was fortunate enough to be raised by parents who believed in the importance of taking their kids to plays and musicals.  In fact, my dad couldn’t be more obsessed with Les Miserables.  So, it wasn’t weird that my sister and I had the soundtracks to Tommy, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera by the time we were in middle school.

Oh, and don’t get me started on Disney.  I can’t help but love and appreciate the music that comes from the Happiest Place on Earth.

And T. Swift.

However, I wanted to make a playlist that really demonstrates my true style of music.  I guess you can say it’s more of the Americana genre.  When I find a band that I love, I kinda stick to them like glue for forever.  And yes, I’m obsessed with Jason Isbell.  I had to hold back in just putting him on this playlist.  I’d say that these songs and artists are my  “go-tos” when sitting at my desk or during a long car ride.

But don’t think I don’t appreciate a good rap song.
