Papercut Gives Back
At Papercut, we believe that the holiday season is about giving back to others. So, this time each year, we make donations to local nonprofits dedicated to helping others. With Christmas just two days away, we’re excited to announce the organizations we’re helping this year.
Let Beauty Awaken
Founded by Thomas West, a senior at the McCallie School, Let Beauty Awaken is a program created to raise funds for art and music programs in public schools across the Chattanooga area. West was inspired to create the program when he visited Dalewood Middle School, noticed the minimal resources, and learned that this was the impact of a lack of funding for the arts in schools across the area.
Teaming up with fellow McCallie senior Ralston Hartness and Baylor seniors McKenna Quatro and Megan Daniel, West formed a board to oversee the project’s development. In November, the group released a CD titled “Let Beauty Awaken” that featured performances from students at area schools. In November, the Chattanooga Theatre Center hosted a concert showcasing the musicians on the CD as a fundraising event for the program.

Gift a Bike
In 1998, Chattanoogan Jeff Embry held a competition with a friend to see who could donate the most bikes to charity and provide underprivileged children with Christmas gifts, and Gift a Bike was born. Following Jeff’s untimely death in 2010, Local Fare began a partnership with Toys for Tots and the Forgotten Child Fund to continue his work for area children. This Christmas, the organization hopes to surpass last year’s donation of 118 bikes and helmets. So far, they’ve raised enough money to donate 54 bicycles, and we know that additional donations would be greatly appreciated.
We supported Gift a Bike last year, and we’re proud to help them make Christmas merry for children again this year. If you’d like to make a donation, please make a check payable to Gift a Bike and mail it to:
